A bright Saturday morning dawned on the front lawn of South Seneca High School with hopes for an outdoor graduation ceremony for sixty-three seniors. Sixty-three seniors, processed to the traditional “Pomp & Circumstance” in front of family and friends on the Middle-High School front lawn. Welcomed by Superintendent Janie Nusser, graduation speeches by cum laude graduate Benjamin Dey and honors graduate Tracey Zajac began.
Ben spoke about character, highlighted some unique characters in the senior class, and encouraged his classmates to volunteer and lend a helping hand. Tracey’s remarks included “how you handle mistakes, obstacles and setbacks makes you who you are.” She encouraged others to take ownership of their mistakes and turn it into a lesson. High school math teacher, Matt Cooley stated time, “not money but time is your only currency, there are no returns, exchanges or refunds, use it wisely, investing in your family and hard work.” His final words were, “time is the fire and you are the fuel.”

Mr. Mike DiPerna, President of the Board of Education, congratulated each student while presenting their diploma. Honor graduates included: Magna Cum Laude graduate (93-94.9): Hayden Wagner. Cum Laude Graduates (90-92.9): Sarah Brewer, Jasmine DeLong, Benjamin Dey, Micah Polk. Honors Graduates (88-89.9): Madison Fisher, Suzanne Jasikoff, Brandon Morgan, Angela Peng, Emma Sherry, Rachael Winstead, Tracey Zajac. Class of 2012 graduates also included: Nicholas Anderson, Andrew Antwine, Naomi Aures, David Backner, Anthony Casey, Kevin Close, Cheyenne Daghita, Casey Delong, Kalishia DeLong, Ryan Esguerra, Dwayne Falbru, Jr., Britnie French-Lawson, Kayla Harris, Ryan Ike, Austin Jennings, Emily Jones, Johnathan Jones, Timothy Law, Sarah LeBlanc, Elijah Liebson, Samantha MacCheyne, Chelsey Marsh, Tania-Lynn Miller, Dan Mills, William Mix, Colleen Moore, Alexander Morgan, Carla Morton, Cody Nichols, Mason Nye, Jolene Paonessa, Amber Parish, Amanda Phelps, Bryant Pinette, Jessica Reich, Jordan Reukauf, Kayshon Rozier, Stephen Sherry, Corey Sinn, Ian Skelton, Teresa Smith, Justin Sowards, Robert VanCuren, Timothy Warne, Timothy Westlake, Kyle Wickum, Kyle Woodard, Leah Woodard, Wayne Woodard Jr., Seth Worrell and Matthew Wyckoff.
Closing remarks were made by Ms. Cathy Flanders, High School Principal and Senior Class President, Jasmine DeLong were given followed by the changing of the tassel and the recessional. Congratulations Class of 2012!
