A Lodi man who left the scene of a single car accident last Thursday and went to his home later died of injuries from the accident. Investigators believe alcohol contributed to the crash.
The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office investigated a fatal Motor Vehicle Accident in the Town of Lodi. Investigators state that on June 21st 2012 at approximately 10:30 pm Thomas E. Burns Sr, age 58 of 2223 East Seneca Street Lodi NY was Northbound on Townsendville Road when, for unknown reasons the vehicle left the roadway, went through a ditch and went air born.
The vehicle came to rest in a field. Burns left the scene of the crash and returned to his residence and did not report in crash to law enforcement.
At 7:53 am on June 22nd his condition worsened and South Seneca Ambulance and Lodi Fire Rescue responded to the residence. Mercy Flight Central flew Burns to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
Burns later died from his injuries. Investigators believe alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash.
