The Seneca County Chamber of Commerce has announced that Five Star Bank, with two Seneca County locations, on Routes 5 & 20 West in Waterloo and Route 96A in Ovid, was nominated as the Chamber’s June 2012 Business of the Month. The award was recently presented at the Chamber’s June Business After-Hours Event, held at Suzanne’s Fine Regional Cuisine and co-hosted by ITT Goulds Pumps.
The Waterloo branch of Five Star Bank opened in 1998 and the Ovid branch shortly after, in 2000. Under the current management of Michael Scaglione, the team at Five Star Bank has constantly contributed to local events and organizations such as the United Way, Hoop’s Bicycle Giveaway, the Interlaken Fire Department, Ovid’s Strawberry Festival and various school programs. Scaglione serves as Treasurer on the Board of Trustees at the Waterloo Library and Historical Society while his staff holds positions on the Board of Directors at the House of Concern and various volunteer committees within the Seneca County Chamber of Commerce.
Five Star Bank is also a sponsor of the Seneca County Chamber of Commerce Finger Lakes Cork & Fork, a regionally held food, wine, and local produce tasting event in September that donates a portion of the proceeds to the House of Concern and Food Bank of the Southern Tier.
Another boastful accomplishment, Five Star Bank recently acquired the First Niagara Seaway Branch and was able to retain all employees. The team (pictured), proudly accepted the award and thanked the Seneca County Chamber of Commerce for acknowledging their successes and dedication within the community.
