Seneca County Chamber of Commerce
Announces 2012 Membership BBQ
and Small Business of the Year
Award Nominees
The Seneca County Chamber of Commerce has announced that it will be hosting its annual Membership BBQ Summer Fundraiser and Small Business of the Year Award event on Wednesday, July 25, 2012. Held this year at Knapp Winery & Restaurant, the event will take place from 5:30–8:00 p.m. and will again feature summer fare from Aaron’s Smokey Bar B Que; as well as entertainment from The Casey McDonald Band.
This year, five Chamber members were nominated for the Small Business of the Year Award. Nominees include: Muranda Cheese Company, Dr. Rodney Littlejohn, D.D.S., Waterloo Historical Society/National Memorial Day Museum, Fuzzy Guppies, and the Seneca Falls Historical Society.
In 2011, the Small Business of the Year Award recipient was Auto Specialist, of Waterloo. The Small Business of the Year program was developed by the Chamber in 2007 to recognize and celebrate the impact that small businesses have on communities. Small businesses compose nearly 98 percent of businesses in New York State, accounting for more than half of the state’s private sector employment.
“In addition to significant employment and tax base contributions, small businesses and their owners support efforts that make our area a better place to live, work and play,” stated Jeff Shipley, the Chamber’s Executive Director. “We are pleased to honor all of the nominees and are eager to announce this year’s official Small Business of the Year award winner at the Chamber’s upcoming Membership BBQ Summer Fundraiser.”
Chamber and community members, friends, and family members of those nominated are invited and encouraged to attend the event in support. Reservations are currently being taken, and are required no later than Friday, July 13, 2012. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Chamber at 315-568-2906. Prices for tickets are $15 per person for chamber members and $20 for non-members.
The 2012 event is being sponsored by Finger Lakes Federal Credit Union; Lyons National Bank; Sessler Companies; The Hotel Clarence; Select Euro Cars, Inc; Seneca Cayuga ARC; Evans Chemetics; Generations Bank; Holiday Inn; and Savanah Bank, NA.
