On Friday, July 6, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. the Seneca Falls Community Band plays its second outdoor concert in People’s Park, located on Water Street, Canal-side in Seneca Falls, NY.
In its 28th season, the Seneca Falls Community Band has scheduled eight concerts throughout the summer season. All concerts are free and located at venues in Seneca Falls and Waterloo. This summer’s concert schedule includes:
June 29, July 6, July 10, July 13, and July 20, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in People’s Park in Seneca Falls; July 27 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Festival in Waterloo, NY; August 3 and August 10 at 7:00 p.m. in People’s Park in Seneca Falls.
The band’s director is the popular musician, Andy Stobie who plays trumpet and also conducts the well-known Greater Finger Lakes Jazz Orchestra. The Seneca Falls Community Band plays a mix of pop music, Broadway show tunes, popular marches, orchestral and classic arrangements, as well as specially commissioned works.
Andy Stobie, the Band’s Musical Director, will conduct the free concert that features traditional summer band favorites. Andy noted, “What an honor to play in the gazebo of this historic village! It’s always a pleasure to share music with those who enjoy listening, tapping their toes, and clapping in time to marches, show tunes, and all the other compositions and arrangements that bring smiles to young and old alike.”
Janelle Bradshaw, the band’s president, reminds everyone who is planning to come, “Don’t forget a chair or a blanket! Or bring a picnic supper and relax by the water as you listen to the evening’s summer concert.”
The Seneca Falls Community Band is comprised of area musicians who volunteer their time and talent each summer to perform a series of free concerts throughout the Finger Lakes region; they perform all summer long. Founded in 1985 by the American Legion Kirk-Casey Post #366 and sponsored by local towns, business, and individuals, the Seneca Falls Community Band welcomes new musicians to join the group.
