Wineries from across the state will be showcasing and selling their award winning wines. Headliner Big Eyed Phish, will be performing on the main stage Friday and Saturday night respectively. On Saturday, August 18, the Finger Lakes Music & Wine Festival will attempt to break the world record for the largest wine tasting event, which was set in 2006 by Spain’s Aranda de Duero with 5,095 participants. Festival organizers have set the stage for success by working closely with Guinness World Records NA on attempt details.
On August 18th, each wine tasting participant will be counted by a digital counter as they enter the wine tasting area between 3:00 – 8:00PM (each exiting participant will be subtracted). Participants are given a ticket, which they will have to submit at the time of their first wine tasting to one of the event’s wineries. Tickets will be counted to ensure participants have actually tasted wine. At 7:00PM a “Call to Action” will summon wine tasters to converge in the wine tasting area to be officially counted between 7:00-8:00PM to break the record with 5,096 participants. Mr. Philip Robertson, adjudicator of Guinness World Records NA, will preside over the attempt and will be available to the media for interviews as of 2:00PM at the festival site.
