September 10th from 11:30 am- 9:30 pm will be the first annual Canal Jam at TAQUERIA 1310 WATERLOO- GENEVA RD, River Park Commons in Waterloo.
It is a free concert, with five bands, yoga, arts, vendors, great food and drink.
The bands are really good:
1- Live at the Fillmore- amazing Allman Brothers cover band. This band is the definitive Allman Brothers Band tribute act. Not locally, not regionally, but nationally, playing shows up and down the coast and beyond. With high levels of devotion and musical talent, they pay their respects to the Original Allman Brothers Band line up – before the untimely deaths of slide guitar master Duane Allman and bass player Berry Oakley, and the departure of Dickey Betts. They take great care in creating a sound that truly captures that southern rock and blues feel, with a healthy dose of jam in the mix.
2- Gratefully Yours- amazing Grateful Dead cover band. Grateful Dead-inspired musicians that take us right back to that space and place. This rotating cast features members from bands such as Melvin Seals and JGB, Max Creek, The Deadbeats, Cats Under the Stars, Strangecreek and more. While they live all over the North East, it’s sure to be special every time they are all on the same stage together, as the flame quickly spreads from the stage to the floor. We are beyond excited to have them playing an extended daytime set by our Black Muddy River.
3- haewa- popular band out of Rochester
Upon the creation of Haewa in 2011, The band established its foundation captivating their audiences by combining fearless improvisation with the way of the power trio…. Over the years Haewa has built upon these roots to create a brilliantly unique sound that offers a sonic balance between utter chaos and pure bliss.
4-Milkweed-popular band out of Binghamton. Beautiful harmonies make this three piece folk/bluegrass band out of Binghamton an increasingly exciting act to catch. Quality songwriting has provided the band with a wealth of music to draw from, so make sure to come out early and see what they are all about.
5- Bad Dog – band from Brooklyn. Like a stray in the street, we are Bad Dog. Created from the ashes of cheap beer cans and late night jams, this Long Island/Brooklyn based band pulls influences from a multitude of genres and mediums. From the funk chords of the Chili Peppers, the deep and mystifying words of Radiohead, the syncopated rhythms of Hip Hop and House Music, the ripping bass of Cliff Burton; Bad Dog appreciates the musical elation that comes from blending and reimagining the various genres and musical legends that came before them.
We will have different ways to get to the event: Bob Stivers of Stivers Marine will be boating people to the docks of the property.
There will be ample parking for cars, and a designated bikers parking lot for motorcyclists. Keep in mind the event is accessible if you wish to travel by boat through the canal!
There will be a free shuttle bus to and from the festival from downtown Geneva. The bus will arrive at Medberry parking lot (across from Scandling center), on Hobart and William Smith Campus, make a quick stop at Lake Drum Brewing and continue onto the festival grounds. This will happen every hour on the hour starting at noon.

WHO WE ARE
WMK Productions is far from a traditional productions company. What we are, is a group of people committed to producing events, opening restaurants, revitalizing and restoring buildings, and helping local businesses and people, all here in Waterloo, NY.
The Canal Jam project, while still in it’s beginning phases, is shaping up to be an exciting event that we can offer to the community, and to ourselves. And who are we? Well lets start at the Kitchen.
The West Main Kitchen is a seemingly simple diner, on main street in the Village of Waterloo, but offering up more than just simple diner dishes. Steeped in Farm-to-Table principles, this local gem just opened up in the Fall of 2015. The husband and wife (Merrill and Laura) that run the eatery are experienced chefs, whose trade has brought them from some of the best restaurants in NYC, and the Yucatan peninsula in Mexico, and now to the small town in Upstate NY. Here, with business partner Lee, they are opening up a series of restaurants that regardless of style, apply the same principles – truly good quality food sourced locally, and priced affordably so as to keep it accessible to the majority.
So why now a music festival? Well…because we love food AND music. So why not kick off the first summer here in the Fingerlakes for the WMK crew with a free and open to all event, with some of the music we love most, while serving up some fantastic food.
And what a beautiful site to host it! The River Park Commons sits along the canal, while grassy fields are peppered with large trees providing shade… its just too good! We had to build a stage, book some great bands, and get to work putting on the 1st annual Canal Jam Music Festival.
We look forward to September 10th a whole lot, and we hope you do too!
WMK Crew.
