The Cayuga Indian Nation closed on another parcel in Seneca Falls last Thursday (July 28). The latest purchase is the home and property behind the former Bodine’s vegetable/fruit stand on the northwest corner of Route 89 and East Bayard Street Extension.

The 16.99 acre properties, listed as 2200 Route 89, was purchased for $190,000 from Thomas and Mary Larzelere, according to Real Property Tax Office records. The properties are assessed at $90,000.

The Cayugas now own three of the four parcels at this intersection. New York Chiropractic College owns the southwest parcel.

It appears the latest purchase fits with the Cayugas strategy of continuing to purchase land in this area as “contiguous buys.”

The latest purchases were the 55th and 56th, giving the Cayugas 1,149.12 acres, all but 145.86 being in Seneca Falls. The Cayugas own three properties on Route 89 and County Road 124 in Varick.

As of Tuesday (Aug. 2), the Cayugas have spent $9,395,108 for its holdings of property assessed at $6,101,600. Most of the property consists of land and houses, although there are six business, five on Route 89 and one on Ovid Street.
