Seneca Falls – Charmion Dinsmore, affectionately, “The Madam”, 90, of Willers Rd., Seneca Falls, NY, died Saturday (May 3, 2014.
Family and friends may attend a funeral service for Charmion on Wednesday (May 7) at 11 AM at United Church of Fayette, Route 414, Fayette, NY. Burial will follow in Fayette Rural Cemetery, Fayette, NY. There will be no prior calling hours. If desired, contributions may be made to South Seneca Ambulance Corps, Route 96A, Ovid, NY 14521.
Arrangements are under the direction of Doran Funeral Home, Seneca Falls, NY.
Charmion was born in the Town of Varick, NY on November 29, 1923 the daughter of the late James L. & Charmion M. Boyle. She was a life resident of the town of Varick and a graduate of S.U.N.Y. at Morrisville, where she earned her Associate’s Degree in Home Economics. She was retired from the Willard Psychiatric Center, Willard, NY. She was a member of the Varick United Methodist Church, Town of Varick, NY, the Seneca Falls Library, & both the Seneca Falls and Fayette Historical Societies. She had been a member of the former Taylor-Brown Hospital Auxiliary and a member of the Ovid, NY V.F.W. She was a past chairman of the Seneca County Democratic Party and was a former Seneca County Historian. Charmion was inducted in the National Women’s Hall of Fame in 1995.
She is survived by:

James (Judy) Dinsmore – Town of Fayette, NY
and Roger Barto of Waterloo, NY
Several grandchildren, great grandchildren, & great great grandchildren
1 sister – Patricia (Paul) Sternberg – Norwich, NY
Several nieces and nephews
Charmion was predeceased by her husband, John Dinsmore who died October 30, 2005, 1 son, Jon W. Dinsmore who died in 1998, 1 daughter, Carol Belmont who died in 2011, 2 sisters, Catherine Somerville, Eileen Koenig, & 3 brothers, Leo, James, & Richard Boyle.
