Darrel Stone

Waterloo – Darrel G. Stone, 70, of Church St., Waterloo, NY, died Friday (May 2, 2014) at Geneva General Hospital, Geneva, NY.

Family and friends may call at the Doran Funeral Home, 4 E. Bayard St., Seneca Falls, NY on Tuesday (May 6) from 4 to 6 PM. A Memorial Service follows at 7:30 PM Tuesday evening (May 6) at Waterloo Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Route 96, Waterloo, NY. Darrel was born in Dos Palos, California on September 15, 1943 the son of D.J. and Billie Jo Brannum Stone. He had resided in Waterloo for 2 ½ years, moving from Watkins Glen, NY. Darrel was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses since 1969, having served at Watchtower Farms in Wallkill, NY. Darrel was a member of Waterloo Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Waterloo, NY.

He earned an Associate’s Degree in Substance Abuse from Sullivan County Community College, Loch Sheldrake, NY and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Empire State College. He was a retired substance abuse Counselor at Willard, NY Drug Treatment Campus. Before Willard, he had worked many years in restaurant management. He had served as an Alcohol & Substance Abuse Treatment Program Assistant, a Correctional Counselor, and a Parole Substance Abuse counselor.

He was a member of Phi Theta Kappa and Who’s Who of American Students. Darrel had poems he wrote that were published by the American Poetry Society. He enjoyed chess, old western country music, jazz, and dominos. Darrel was a skilled baker and cook.

His wife of 38 years , Sharon Leigh (Campbell) Stone of Waterloo, NY whom he married on May 1, 1976 at Wallkill, NY at Watchtower Farms.
His beloved mother, Billie Jo Brannum Winton and her husband, Don(Pops), of San Joaquin, California
