Seneca Falls - David N. Hoster, aged 69, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Rochester General Hospital, Rochester, NY.
Family and friends may call at the Doran Funeral Home, 4 E. Bayard St., Seneca Falls, NY on Monday (October 30) from 4 PM to 7 PM. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday (October 31) at 11 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Raymond Torrey, Pastor of Calvary Chapel, Seneca Falls, officiating. Burial will follow in Canoga Cemetery, town of Fayette, NY. Contributions in David’s memory may be made to North Seneca Ambulance, the Magee Volunteer Fire Department, or Finger Lakes Christian School.
David was born April 23, 1948 the son of Alys Jones Hoster and John Henry Hoster and lived his entire life in Seneca County, primarily in Canoga and most recently Magee.
He was retired from Gould’s Pumps after nearly 40 years working as a machinist.
His passion was the fire service, serving as Assistant Chief and then Chief of the Canoga Volunteer Fire Department, as well as Deputy Fire Coordinator of Seneca County. He was active in the Seneca County Fire Chief’s Association and Seneca County Advisory Board, serving as President and Chairman. David enjoyed collecting Fire Memorabilia over the years.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Marjorie Hoster, sister Martha (Phil) Rogers, brother John (Theresa) Hoster, brother Tom (Marilyn) Hoster, as well as sisters in law Ruth Anne Thompson, Juanita Anderson and Nanci D. Thompson, his second family Faye (Bruce) Stowell, Carol (Bill) Duke, Barbara Bailey and Karen Narburgh. He will also be remembered by nieces and nephews Scott Rogers, Michael Rogers, Tim Hoster, Sarah Walsh, Tammy Hoster, Julie Hoster, Rich Hoster, Kelli Davis, & and their families, as well as god-daughters Sherry Szymborski and Julie Scott and their families.
David was pre-deceased by his parents John and Alys Hoster, step-mother Harriet Hollenbeck Hoster and her son Tracy Hollenbeck, in-laws Boyd and Myrtle Thompson and brothers-in-law Boyd Thompson & Tommy Anderson.
He will especially be missed by his little loyal companion dog, Shadow.
