Waterloo- Emerson E. Jones, formerly of Waterloo, passed away peacefully Sunday (February 5, 2012) at Cayuga County Nursing Home in Auburn.
There will be no calling hours.The memorial service will be 1:00 pm Wednesday (Feb. 8) at Waterloo United Methodist Church, 21 E. Williams St.. The Rev. Thomas Easttey, pastor, will officiate. Private burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Waterloo.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association,435 E. Henrietta Rd., Rochester, 14620 and Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, Mass, 01104, or the charity of your choice.
Emerson was born in Rushville, PA, the son of Edward B. and Lillian M. Gamble Jones. He was a graduate of Vestal High School and a graduate of Penn State. He owned and operated Schaffer Dairy in Waterloo for many years, until selling his business in 1978 to Upstate Dairy. He was employed with Upstate as a division manager and a sales representative. He was a member of the Waterloo Rotary Club, Seneca Lodge 113, F.& A. M., and the Damascus Shriners. Emerson was a gentleman who loved life and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and traveling. He especially loved to fly his Cessna Skylane and explore our country in his motorhome. Most of all, he loved his family and his friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Anne Costello Jones of Skaneateles; daughter, Karen (Donald) Moretti of Waterloo; son, Donald Jones of Waterloo; grandsons, Michael Moretti and Matthew Moretti; granddaughter, Molly Moretti; sister, Helen (Walter) Snyder of Waterloo; brother, Duane (Joan) Jones; of Liverpool; sister-in-law, Barbara Jones of Enfield, Conn; the Costello and O’Shaughnessy families; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one brother, Ronald.
Arrangements are entrusted to Coe-Genung Funeral Home in Waterloo.
