SENECA FALLS - “GIESE” Flavian X. Giese, 96, formerly of Maple St. died Sunday (April 1, 2012) at the Wayne County Nursing Home, Lyons, N.Y. surrounded by his loving family.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday (April 5) at the Doran Funeral Home, 4 E. Bayard St., Seneca Falls; to conclude with military honors tat 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday (April 6) at the funeral home with The Reverend James Fennessy, Pastor of St. Patrick’s Church, Seneca Falls officiating. Burial will be in St. Columbkille Cemetery, Seneca Falls.

Flavian was born in Black River Fall, WI. on January 8, 1916 the son of the late Francis & Catherine Giese. He as a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army - European Theatre from April 1941 to February 1946. He was awarded the American Service Medal, American Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, EAME Service Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal. He resided in Seneca Falls most of his life and was retired from the former GTE Sylvania. He was a member of the Kirk - Casey Post #366 American Legion, Seneca Falls and the Quarter Century Club of the former GTE Sylvania. In 2008 he was recipient of the Senior Citizen of the Year award.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ann DeJohn Giese of Seneca Falls, N.Y.; one daughter, Susan Giese (Veronica Wemes) of Seneca Falls, N.Y.; four sisters; Marcella Mitchell of Nevada, Petronilla Saprano of Liverpool, N.Y., Bernie Stowell of Waterloo, N.Y., Zita Furhrer of Ohio; grandchildren, Tanya (Bush) Tyler, Rick (Kimberly) Bush, Tricia Kisor; great-grandchildren, Brandon DiCiccio, Madison Tyler, Mikayla, Jenna, Jason and Lila Bush; and several nieces and nephews. Extended family, Cindy (Rogers) Ryan, Chris (Rogers) Budd.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by sisters, Seraphia and Lillian (infant sister) Zora.
