Waterloo - Gilbert “Gil” John Jodeit, 77, of 1641 State Route 318, died Sunday (March 25, 2012) at Huntington Living Center.
In keeping with the wishes of the family there will be no calling hours. A private memorial service will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Waterloo.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to North Seneca Ambulance Inc., 1645 North Road, Waterloo, 13165 or Huntington Living Center, 369 E. Main St., Waterloo, 13165.
Gilbert was born March 8, 1935 in Waterloo, the son of Max and Odelia Friske Jodeit. He was a lifelong resident of Seneca Falls and Junius area. He worked as a heavy equipment operator with Local 832 in Rochester, later, transferring to Local 545 in Syracuse. After retiring from Local 545 he owned and operated an escort driver service for oversize loads. He enjoyed snowmobiling, quarter midget racing and go-cart racing. He and his wife for many years would winter in Florida.
He is survived by his loving wife, whom he married April 8, 1960, Suzanne Gallagher Jodeit, sons, G. Dennis (Missy Peabody) Jodeit and David (Suzette) Jodeit both of Waterloo; grandchildren, Timothy (Martha) Jodeit, Gregory Jodeit, Tyler Jodeit, Andrea (Nicholas Caraccilo) Jodeit, Brielle Jodeit; great-grandson, Trevor Jodeit; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, William Jodeit.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Coe-Genung Funeral Home in Waterloo.
