James Francis O’Connor, 79, passed away October 3, 2014 at Geneva General Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
In honoring Jim’s wishes, there will be no prior calling hours. Funeral services will be held on Friday (October 10) at 10 AM St. Patrick’s Church, Seneca Falls, NY where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend James Fennessy, Pastor. Burial will follow at St Columbkille cemetery in Seneca Falls.

Jim was born in Seneca Falls, NY to Charles and Gertrude Speich O’Connor. Jim graduated from Waterloo High School and served our country as a member of the United States Navy from 1955 to 1959. He served as a radio operator aboard the USS Purdy (DD-734) and saw many ports of call in the Atlantic, Caribbean and Mediterranean. Following his return to Waterloo Jim met and married Denise Reardon on November 19, 1960. They were married for more than 53 years until Denise’s death in March of this year.
Jim was employed at Evans Chemetics for 38 years before retiring in 1999. While at Evans he was a member of the USWA local 7110 and served many years as their recording secretary and as a member of the contract negotiating committee. Jim was also active in the local baseball programs serving many years as a coach in the Seneca Falls Senior and American Legion baseball leagues. Jim was a devoted Green Bay Packers fan and was able to travel many times to watch the Packers play in Lambeau Field with his sons. Jim will be fondly remembered by his children for doing doughnuts in the parking lot of St. Patrick’s school on snowy mornings and by his grandchildren for always being in the stands at their events.
Jim is survived by and will be lovingly remembered by his children William (Vicki) O’Connor, Erin (Brian Garrett) O’Connor, James (JC) O’Connor, Margaret (David) Parrow, Patrick (Denyse) O’Connor and Mary (Terry) Clifton. Fifteen grandchildren: Samantha, Matthew, Stephen, Kevin, Meg, Jack, Grace, David, Michael, Connor, Sarah, Marissa, Kiley, Jason and Jeremy. He is also survived by his sisters Margaret Smith and Betty (Charles) Price, brothers Edward and Jack (Linda) O’Connor and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, Jim was predeceased by his brothers Harvey and Harold O’Connor and his sister Vernice O’Connor High.
