Cayuga - James Joseph Ziccardi,Sr., 65, of 100 Salto Lane, Apt. 111, died Thursday (April 12, 2012) at home with his loving family by his side.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday (April 17) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home, 46 W. Main St., Waterloo. The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday (April 18) at the funeral home. The Rev. Shatzel, pastor of Good Shepherd Catholic Community in Aurora, will officiate.

James was born November 1, 1946 in Batavia, the son of Gasper S. and Catherine Cino Ziccardi. He was raised in Batavia. He was an U. S. Army veteran having served from 1966 to 1969. Returning from serving his country, he was employed with Batavia Downs as a security officer. He later moved to Las Vegas where he was employed as manager of the food and beverage department for McCarran International Airport. He also was employed as a K9 police officer for the Las Vegas Police Department. Returning to New York State he was regional manager for the New York State Thruway for Port Byron, Junius Ponds, and Seneca service areas. Later he was employed as Chief of Security at Guardian Glass in Geneva.
He is survived by his loving wife, Donna M. Ziccardi; sons, James Ziccardi and Samuel Ziccardi both of North Carolina, and Joseph Ziccardi of Port Byron; daughter, Samantha (Mike) Aldrich of Port Byron; step-daughter, Patricia (Samuel Allen, Finacee) Lyke; grandchildren, Calie, Haelie, Brianna, Devon, and Arica; step-grandchildren, Owen and Erin; father, Gasper S. Ziccardi of Batavia; sister, Kathy (Bob) Dorman of Batavia; brother, Daniel (Judy) Ziccardi of LeRoy; many nieces and nephews; his beloved companion, Cisco.
