Seneca Falls - Jean V. Amidon 75 of Route 89, Seneca Falls, NY, died Friday November 25th, 2016 at Matthew House in Auburn, NY
Jean’s Memorial service will take place on Tuesday (March 21, 2017) AT A TIME TO BE ANNOUNCED at Doran Funeral Home, 4 E. Bayard St., Seneca Fallls. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Canoga Cemetery, Seneca Falls, NY. There will be no prior calling hours.
Jean was born on September 17th in Syracuse, NY. She is the daughter of the late Frederick and Frances (Ryan) Van Epps She was a graduate of Mynderse Academy and Potsdam University with a degree in Education. She taught primary students and then became a stay at home mother of her 3 children. She literally gave herself to her children and then gave of herself to the communities she lived in volunteering and spreading her kindness. In the last several years she has been a volunteer for the waterloo hospital, the Canoga Volunteer Fire Dept Auxiliary and the American Red Cross Meals on Wheels and Disaster Services. Her Disaster services included NY ICE storms, 9/11 – NYC, Katrinia and several more. She loved helping people, she made everyone she came in contact with, feel special and made a lot of friends all over the world. For fun she enjoyed playing bridge with the girls, swimming and just visiting with friends.
Jean is survived by her sons Gregory (Mirsini) Amidon of Jackson Heights NY, Frederick (Wendi) Amidon of Kailua, HI and daughter Barbara Amidon of Seneca Falls. Her sister Carol Messmer of Waterloo and several nieces and nephews.
