Joan Rogers
Joan C. Rogers, 83, formerly of Seneca Falls and Romulus, NY, passed away on Thursday (September 21, 2017)
Family and friends may attend Joan’s Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday (September 30) at 10 AM at St. Patrick’s Church, Seneca Falls with Reverend James Fennessy, Pastor, as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Columbkille Cemetery, Seneca Falls. There will be no prior calling hours. If desired, contributions may be made to St. Francis/St. Clare Parish, 25 Center St., Waterloo, NY 13165 or to Seneca County Children’s Committee, c/o United Way Office, Suite 215, Main St. Shoppe, Waterloo, NY 13165.
Joan was born in Seneca Falls, NY on December 21, 1933 the daughter of the late Leo & Margaret Magill Carroll. She had resided most of her life in Seneca Falls. She was a graduate of the University of Rochester where she earned her Degree in Nursing. She was a Registered Nurse who had worked in the former Sylvania Infirmary, Seneca Falls, Rosemont College in Rosemont, PA., & the former Taylor-Brown Hospital, Waterloo, NY. She was a partner, along with her late husband, Brian, in WSFW Radio Station, Seneca Falls. Joan served on the Board of Directors of the former Savings Bank of the Finger Lakes. She was a member and past chairman of the Seneca County United Way and member and past chairman of the Children’s Committee. She was a former member of the Seneca Falls Country Club & the Red Jacket Yacht Club. Joan love to sew, cook, knit, & embroider. Joan & Brian were very active volunteers in Seneca County and were honored as Volunteers of the Year for Seneca County.
Joan is survived by:
1 daughter – Margaret “Meg†(David) Vanek – Auburn, NY
1 son – Mark (Allison) Rogers – Riverside, CT.
2 grandchildren – Nicole & Sara Rogers
In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by her husband, Brian B. Rogers who died July 26, 2015
