Joan K. Dangremond died peacefully at her home in Wellington, Florida on February 26, 2015 following a brief illness. She was 84. Mrs. Dangremond is survived by her four devoted children, Donald (Joyce) of Potsdam, NY, David (Mary) of Old Lyme, CT, Dale (William Tedesco) of Wellington, FL, and Darcy (Andrew Shumway) of Paxton, Ma, as well as seven cherished grandchildren, Catherine, Peter, Samuel and Augustus Dangremond, Zachary Myers, Will Tedesco, and Matthew Wright. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 33 years James L. Dangremond in 1982.

Joan Dangremond was born on August 11, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Frederick and Lilly K. Kross. Prior to her marriage, she pursued a career in women’s fashion at Marshall Field and Co. in Chicago. As a newlywed, she moved to Philadelphia where her husband was a pioneer in the emerging television manufacturing industry. A career opportunity with Sylvania Electronics brought her growing family to Seneca Falls, where she lived for the next forty years. She traveled extensively throughout the world as her husband’s career with GTE Sylvania took them to Europe, South America, and Asia. Following her children’s graduations, she became a licensed real estate agent and broker, and was a co-owner of Royce and Rosenkrans Realty in Seneca Falls. In 1995 she relocated to Ligonier, Pennsylvania, and in 2005 retired to Wellington, Florida.

While living in Seneca Falls, Joan was active in community affairs, serving as a Trustee and officer of the Seneca Falls Historical Society, volunteering at Taylor-Brown Memorial Hospital and her church, and assuming leadership roles in supporting the athletic and musical activities of her children at Mynderse Academy. She was a member of the Seneca Falls Welfare League, the Seneca Falls Country Club, and the Red Jacket Yacht Club. She was a gifted musician and vocalist, and always encouraged and enjoyed the academic, athletic, and artistic endeavors of her children and grandchildren.
