Seneca Falls – John V. Buffone, 67, of Pinehurst Drive, Seneca Falls, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday evening (April 25, 2018) at Geneva General Hospital, Geneva, NY.
Family and friends may call at the Doran Funeral Home, 4 E. Bayard St., Seneca Falls, on Monday (April 30) from 4 PM to 7 PM. John’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday (May 1) at 10 AM at St. Patrick’s Church, Seneca Falls with Reverend Roy Kiggins as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Columbkille Cemetery, Seneca Falls.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Vested Interest in K9’s Inc., P.O. Box 9, E. Taunton, MA. 02718 or at www.vik9s.org. This organization provided the ballistic vest for John’s granddog K9 Rex, of the Ithaca Police Department. John was very proud and supportive of the work of his daughter and the entire police community.
John was born in Waterloo, NY on September 18, 1950, the son of the late Vincent Buffone. He was a lifelong resident of Seneca Falls and a graduate of S.U.N.Y. at Albany with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics. He retired as a supervisor for Seneca-Cayuga ARC, Waterloo, NY and had also worked for Gould’s Pumps of Seneca Falls. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, Seneca Falls.
Over the years, John had assisted in coaching his daughters’ softball teams and it became of one his favorite things to do. He was a lover of many varieties of music – a trait he passed on to all three of his children - and an avid reader. Above all and always most importantly John loved spending time with his family and walking his granddogs, Messi, K9 Rex, Enza & Walter.

His wife, Jeanette DiNapoli Buffone of Seneca Falls, whom he was married to for 44 years
2 daughters – Jessica (Joe) Dorazio of Westfield, MA
Jamie Buffone of Trumansburg, NY,
1 son – Jeremy (Katie) Buffone of Atlanta, GA,
1 brother – Steven (Jo) Buffone of Akron, Ohio,
His aunt – Edna Korr of New York City,
His brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law – Rose and Bob Hurd of Syracuse, NY, Joanne and Tom “Skip” DiNapoli of Baldwinsville, NY and Elizabeth and Richard Torrey of Cranbury, NJ
and Several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, John was predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tom & Stella DiNapoli
