Joseph Siccardi, father of Reveille/Between the Lakes Publisher Joe Siccardi, passed away peacefully last Thursday morning (June 28) at Seneca Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Waterloo, where he had resided for the past four years.
Calling hours will be Sunday (July 8), 4-8 p.m., at Festa Memorial Funeral Home, Totowa, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Monday (July 9), 9:30 a.m., at St. James of the Marches Catholic Church, Totowa, celebrated by Rev. J. Patrick Ryan, pastor. Interment will follow at Calvary Mausoleum, Paterson, NJ.
Mr. Siccardi was born Jan. 8, 1923 in Paterson, the youngest son of Louise (DeGrezia) and Modestino Siccardi. He graduated from Eastside High School, Paterson, where he was a track standout. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, 1943-46, stationed in northern France with an artillery division. He received the American Campaign, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign, Good Conduct and World War II Victory medals. He lived in Paterson and Totowa most of his life and worked in the textile industry in the greater Paterson area. He also operated his own trophy, plaque and jewelry engraving business.
He is survived by a son, Joseph L. Sr. of Willard (Romulus); five grandchildren, Joseph L. (Nichole) Siccardi Jr. of Rockford, IL, Deanna M. (Michael) Kohlhofer of Walbridge, OH, Scott F. (Mandi) Siccardi of Charlton, MA, Nicolle A. Siccardi-Smith of Seneca Falls and Jonathan G. (Monica) Siccardi of Phelps; 15 great-grandchildren, Stacia and Kayli Connor, Skylar and Shayla Schultz, Zachary, Ryan and Gavin Kohlhofer, Derek, Timothy, Anthony, Taylor, Jonathan Jr. and Karli Siccardi and Gabriella and Kaydance Smith; two brothers, Frank of Paterson and Gerard (Grace) of Ridgefield, NJ; three sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Seyer of Paterson, Dorothy Seyer of Fayetteville, NC, and Barbara (David) DeProspero of Euclid, OH; a brother-in-law, Howard Schavlan of Midlothian, VA; an aunt; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, Joe was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Dorothy (Seyer), whom he married Nov. 2, 1946 and who died Aug. 13, 1998; a daughter-in-law, Karen Siccardi in 2008; two sisters-in-law, Iole Siccardi and Patricia Schavlan; three brothers-in-law, Leonard, Joseph and David Seyer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Joe’s name may be directed to Pathway Home of the Finger Lakes, a hospice facility, P.O. Box 516, Seneca Falls, NY 13148-0516.
Local arrangements were entrusted to Sanderson-Moore Funeral Home, Seneca Falls.
