Seneca Falls – Laura A. Simolo, 100, passed away Thursday (February 12, 2015) at Seneca Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Waterloo, NY, one day after receiving a letter of congratulations from the White House for her achievement of 100 years.
Family and friends may attend Laura’s Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday (February 18) at 10 AM at St. Patrick’s Church, Seneca Falls, with Reverend James Fennessy, Pastor, as celebrant. Spring burial will be in St. Columbkille Cemetery, Seneca Falls. There will be no prior calling hours. If desired, contributions may be made to St. Patrick’s Church, 25 Center St., Waterloo, NY 13165.
Laura was born in Seneca Falls, NY on January 15, 1915 the daughter of the late Frank & Clara Cassone Dragone, one of seven children. In her early years she worked at the Seneca Knitting Mill & Ginsberg Dress Factory, both of Seneca Falls. Laura spent most of her life as a homemaker where she enjoyed entertaining family & friends. She was a devout Catholic, wife, mother who enjoyed the time with her grandchildren. Her hobbies included, flower gardening, cooking, travel & golf. In later years she traveled extensively with her late husband, especially the trips to Italy to visit relatives.
Laura was a past member of: Seneca Falls Country Club, Women’s Hall of Fame where she was a charter member, Garden Club, St. Patrick’s Guild and Altar Society, Seneca Falls Historical Society, the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, & the Seneca Falls Hospital Volunteers.
She is survived by:
1 son – John (Dottie) Simolo – Seneca Falls, NY
1 daughter – Patricia (James) Brown – Seneca Falls, NY
Her grandchildren – Cindy (Kelly) Key, James (Michelle) Brown, Jacqueline (Mitch) Will, Adam (Marissa) Simolo, Russell (Mara) Simolo, Scott Simolo, Henry (Michele) Simolo, & Stephen ( Corrine) Simolo.

Several great grandchildren, nieces, & nephews.
In addition to her parents, Laura was predeceased her husband, Henry Simolo Sr., her son and daughter-in-law, Henry & Sandra Simolo Jr., her sisters, Grace Carissimi, Jane Giusti, Yolanda Acce, Anne Rapa, & her brother, John Dragone.
