Waterloo – Lee Irvin Johnston, 85, of W. River Rd., Waterloo, NY, passed away on Tuesday (June 18, 2013) at Geneva General Hospital, Geneva, NY following a brief illness.
Family and friends may call at the Doran Funeral Home, 30 Center St., Waterloo, NY on Thursday (June 20) from 6 -8 PM. Funeral services will be held on Friday (June 21) at 11 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Naomi Forrwar-Randall of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Waterloo, NY, officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Masonic Home, 2150 Bleecker St., Utica, NY 13501.
Lee was born September 7, 1927 in Kingston, NY the only son of the late Irvin Lee & Margaret Winter Johnston. He lived in Geneva during his early years and has been a resident of Waterloo for 58 years.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He served in the Geneva, NY National Guard and retired as Chief Warrant Officer of the U.S. Army Reserves in Penn Yan, NY. Lee was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Waterloo and a life member of the Reserves Officers Association and the Geneva VFW. He was an active member of the Skoi-Yase Council #75 Cryptic Masons of Geneva, NY, the Pocahontas Lodge #021 F. & A. M. of Seneca Falls, & the Salem Town Chapter #173 Royal Arch Masons of Seneca Falls. Lee was retired from the Seneca Army Depot as the electrician foreman.
