Seneca Falls –Margaret C. Papontos, 96 of Fall St., Seneca Falls, NY, died Sunday (January 19, 2014) at her residence.

Family and friends may call at the Doran Funeral Home, 4 E. Bayard St., Seneca Falls, NY on Thursday (January 23) from 5 -7 PM followed by a funeral service at 7 PM at the funeral home with Reverend James Fennessy, Pastor of St. Patrick’s Church, Seneca Falls, officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Florida.

Margaret was born in Kilgarvan, Ireland on June 24, 1917 the daughter of the late Daniel & Ellen Downey Cremin. She had resided in Seneca Falls with her daughter since moving from Pawling, NY 5 years ago where she had been residing with her daughter, Elaine. She and her late husband, Stephen Papontos, had owned and operated Steve’s Terrace Lodge in Lake Carmel, NY for many years. She had resided in Ocala, Florida from 1981 to 1998. Margaret was a former member of the Catholic Daughter’s of America, Lake Carmel, NY.

She is survived by:
2 daughters –Elaine (Anthony) Labate – Pawling, NY
Joanna (John Kehoe) Papontos – Seneca Falls, NY
1 granddaughter – Allison (Neil) Stuart
1 great grandson – Sean Stuart
1 sister – Sister Catherine Cremin –Waterford, Ireland
In addition to her parents, Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Stephen Papontos who died December 19, 1995 and 7 siblings.
