Waterloo – Margaret M. Archer, 97, passed away early Saturday morning (April 9, 2016) at Geneva General Hospital, Geneva, NY.
Family and friends may call at the Doran Funeral Home, 30 Center St., Waterloo, NY on Tuesday (April 12) from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM. Margaret’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday (April 13) at 1:30 PM at St. Mary’s Church, Center St., Waterloo, NY with Reverend James Fennessy, Pastor, as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Waterloo, NY. If desired, contributions may be made to St. Francis-St. Clair Parish, 25 Center St., Waterloo, NY 13165
Margaret was born in Tonawanda, NY, the daughter and ninth child born to George and Angeline Lambert. She was raised in Seneca Falls. She spent 30 years in Waterloo after she married, before returning to spend the next forty years in Seneca Falls. She attended St. Patrick’s School. She worked at GTE Sylvania, Greenwoods, and Westcott Ruler Company. She was elected Waterloo Town Tax Collector in 1960 and served one term. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church and a member of St. Mary’s Rosary and Altar Society. For many years, she drove friends to appointments, shopping or out to lunch. She visited shut-ins and those in the nursing homes. She especially enjoyed being with her eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, and loved feeding them. When younger, she liked to travel, play cards, and go dancing.
She is survived by her two daughters, Liz (Bill) Marsh, of San Antonio, Texas, and Theresa Trickler of Waterloo, daughter-in-law, Mary (Pete) French of Geneva, sister-in-law, Yolanda Giansante, brother-in-law, Sam (Mary) Giansante. Her grandchildren, Sam (Denise) Marsh of San Antonio, Texas, Pam (Cliff) Stein of Waterloo, Geoff Trickler of Seneca Falls, Kimmy (Matt) Alger of Waterloo, Dan (Lisa) Trickler of Waterloo, Chris John of Spencerport and Jeff John of Cornelius, NC. Her great-grandchildren, Andy, Alex, Evan, & Joey Marsh. Mark and Ciara Campbell, Julia and Hanna Trickler, Brianna and Jared Hendrix, Hunter and Drake Alger, Bryce and Quincy Trickler. And one honorary great-granddaughter, Samantha Kuney. Also, Madison, Brady and Mason John.
Special nieces: Ginny Oliver, Angela Durfee, Rose Raymond, and Lynn Lambert, & Patty Archer. Nephews: Bob and George Valesente, Ben Lambert and a special nephew and Godson, Peter Petrosino.
Besides her parents, Margaret was predeceased in death by 7 brothers, John (Millie), Chester, Benj, George, Albert, Guy, and Benny; her three sisters, Charina Lambert, Virginia Valesente, and Carrie Petrosino. Her two husband, Guido French and Harold Archer; her son Peter French, grandson Michael Guy French, and her nephews: Peter Lambert, Richard Petrosino and Reginald Lambert and his wife, Alice.
