Waterloo - Mark Russell Smith, 38, of 1679 Larsen Rd., died Friday (March 23, 2012) at home.
Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday (March 27) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home in Waterloo. The funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday (March 28) at the funeral home. Rev. Kevin Grish, pastor of Tyre United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Clyde.
Memorial contributions may be made to NYCAMH Community Farm Safety Fund, c/o Betty Smith, 874 Route 414, Waterloo, New York. The NYCAMH Community Farm Safety Fund provides Farm Safety Programs for kids.
Mark was born April 1, 1973 in Geneva, the son of Russell C. and Ruth E. Worden Smith. He was a 1991 graduate of Waterloo Central School. He was a lifelong Waterloo resident. He was a cash crop farmer since the age of 4, working on the family farm. He was a member of Seneca County Farm Bureau. He was also a member of Bristol Valley Loafers Hunting Club. He enjoyed tractor pulling and antique tractors. He also enjoyed 4 wheeling, motorcycling and snowmobiling.
He is survived by his father and step-mother, Russell C. and Betty Smith of Waterloo; mother and step-father, Ruth E. and Don Brown of Seneca Falls; sister, Colleen (John) Nearpass of Waterloo,; step-sisters, Amber (Richard) Amidon of Waterloo, Suzanne “Tooch” (Aaron) LeFever of Auburn, Donita (Steven) Henry of Seneca Falls; and significant other, Linda Smith of Waterloo; nieces and nephews, Mark (fiancee, Nicole Rucker) Nearpass and Elizabeth Nearpass, Dylan Amidon and Logan Amidon, Matthew Salisbury, and Emily Martin; great niece, Elainna Nearpass; several aunts and uncles; and many cousins.

I am so sorry for your loss. Mark will be truely missed. He was a great friend and classmate. I hope he finds peace where he is. I will keep him and all of you in my prayers.
