Cayuga/Seneca Falls – Marlette M. Morehouse, 99, of Springport Cove Rd., formerly of Seneca Falls, NY, passed away peacefully Sunday (November 2, 2014) at her residence.
Family and friends may call at the Doran Funeral Home, 4 E. Bayard St., Seneca Falls, on Friday (November 7, 2014) from 4 to 7 PM. A Funeral Service for Marlette will be held on Saturday (November 8) at 10 AM at St. Patrick’s Church, Seneca Falls, with Reverend James Fennessy, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Columbkille Cemetery, Seneca Falls. If desired, contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Marlette was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on August 13, 1915 the daughter of the late Edward & Minnie Bierhorst Metzner. She spent most of her adult life in Seneca Falls and Union Springs. She was a faithful life member of the Seneca Falls Elks Lodge #992 Auxiliary, the Red Jacket Fire Department Auxiliary, and the Eastern Star of Fayette, NY. Marlette also entertained everyone in the community as she played Mrs. Santa Claus in the Seneca Falls United Methodist Church annual Holiday Bazaar for over 40 years. She retired in the 70’s from the Seneca County Department of Social Services. She had been an active member of the Seneca County Republican Party and the Republican Women’s Committee.
Marlette had a passion for life, and her laughter was only matched by the love of her family. She will be remembered most for her wisdom, her empathy, her laughter and her enthusiasm for a “good game of cards” which meant she should win. She was an inspiration to everyone she met and she will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.
She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by:

Linda (Larry) Adams – Jamestown, NY
Kay (Mike) Harvey – Irvine, California
Marlene Dooley – Texas
10 grandchildren – Christopher Scott (Jenny) Tompkins, Dr. Roger & Yezabel Dooley, Annie Mahoney & Jim Woodard, Michelle Adams & Dr.Matthew Fink., Sean & Dr. Christina Dooley, Cheri & Robert Walsh, Denise & Mike Jones, Rachael & Christopher Kirk, Allison Adams, Jennifer & Kirk Hampton,
13 great grandchildren
and the daughter of her late husband (Richard Morehouse), Ann & David Rogers and their children, Debbie, Maureen, & Jeff
Her son-in-law – Jack Mahoney – Seneca Falls, NY
In addition to her parents, Marlette was predeceased by her husband, Richard Morehouse and her daughter, Joyce “Bonnie” Mahoney who died August 25, 2014.
