Clyde/Seneca Falls - Richard F. Mumford, Sr. passed away with his loving family by his side on March 5, 2016 at Ellis Hospital. He was 62 years old. The son of the late William and Millicent (Cook) Mumford, Sr., Dick was born on June 8, 1953 in Waterloo, NY.
Family and friends may call at the Doran Funeral Home, 4 E. Bayard St., Seneca Falls, on Saturday (March 12, 2016) from 1 to 3 PM followed by military honors at 3 PM at the funeral home by Seneca Falls Honor Guard. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Richard’s name to: National Kidney Foundation, Finance Department, 30 East 33rd St., New York, NY 10016.
Dick served his country honorable in the US Navy aboard the USS L.Y. Spear (AS 360) where he saw action in Vietnam. He was part of the Am-Jam family and volunteered with them for years. He loved to ride his Harley Davidson. He along with his companion, Becky, travelled in their RV during the winter months and spent the summers camping in South Glens Falls, NY. Dick was a member of the Milford Rod and Gun club and had a great love for hunting and fishing. Dick had an admiration for eagles and an extensive collection of memorabilia related to our National Bird. He was an avid fan of NASCAR and never missed a race.
Dick was a loving companion, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Dick always had something to say and a story to tell. No matter what, he was always there for his family and put them ahead of himself. Dick will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Dick is survived by his companion of 12 years Agnes “Becky” Villano of Schenectady; his children: Richard F. (Annette) Mumford, Jr., of Geneva, NY, Jason E. (Alisha Abbott) Mumford of Lyons, NY and Angel Mumford Dennis of Clyde, NY; many grandchildren; his brothers: William (Darlene) Mumford, Jr. of Seneca Falls, NY, Michael (Carol) Mumford of Savannah, NY; his sisters: Anna (Ron) Nucci of Waterloo, NY, Cheryl (Dave) Wagner of Waterloo, NY; his great-aunt Pauline Bojczuk of Seneca Falls, NY; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his special friends, caregivers and his faithful dog, Bella.
In addition to his parents, Dick was predeceased by his sister MaryAnn O’Brian.
