Richard G. Reader formerly of Troy St., Seneca Falls, NY, passed away at age 85 at Geneva General Hospital, Geneva, NY, with his family by his side.
Family and friends may call at the Doran Funeral Home, 4 E. Bayard St., Seneca Falls, on Thursday (January 30) from 5 to 7 PM. Funeral services and burial in Springbrook Cemetery, Seneca Falls, will be at the convenience of the family.
The Seneca Falls Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the funeral home on Thursday evening (January 30) at 7 PM.
He was born on June 22, 1928 in Waterloo, NY. He spent 36 years working for the United States Government, both in the military and civil service. He spent 4 years with the U.S. Air Force, 3 years with the NY State Guard, 3.5 years at Sampson Air Force Base, and 28 years at the Seneca Army Depot. His main trade was refrigeration both in and out of the service. He attended refrigeration school in Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1948. He was a life member of both the Memorial Post #6433, VFW, Waterloo, NY, and the Disabled American Veterans. He was also a member of the Warner-VanRiper Post#435, American Legion, Waterloo, NY and the Kirk-Casey Post #366 American Legion, Seneca Falls.
He is survived by his son Robert Reader and his partner John Nazarian, MD, and his sister-in-law Ruth Reader.
He is predeceased by his wife Janice, parents Mr. and Mrs. Chester Reader, his sister, Vernice Malone, brothers, Austin and Donald, and twin brother Robert Lynn Reader. Also he is predeceased by his brother-in-law Frederick Wright and his wife Rose Wright.
