Robert A. Hyde of 31 Stevenson St. passed away may 22, 2013. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 11am at Calvary Lutheran Church, 2414 Route 414 North, Waterloo, NY 13165, with Rev. William Dorow officiating. Interment will be in Spring Brook Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Kindly consider contributions to the church.
Born on March 22, 1927 in Ellenburg Depot, NY, the son of Burt and Catherine Hyde. He graduated as valedictorian of Ft. Covington High School, Ft. Covington, NY and immediately entered the Army serving in the Pacific and in Japan until being discharged in November 1946. After his service he graduated magna cum laude from Clarkson University in 1951. Upon graduation, he joined GTE Sylvania retiring after a successful 35 year career. He married Jacqueline Defler in May 1954 and was about to celebrate 59 loving years of marriage on May 23, 2013. He was active in Little League baseball serving as a coach and a league officer for several years. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church of Seneca Falls and a member of the Seneca Falls Country Club for over 50 years where he served as an officer and director.
Survived by his beloved wife Jacqueline (Jackie) Hyde of Seneca Falls; son Jeffrey (Jeff) Hyde and his wife Victoria of Canton, Georgia; son Stephen (Steve) Hyde and his wife Janice of Romulus, NY; and daughter Martha (Marti) Quarantillo and her husband Edward of Berkeley Springs, WV as well as five grandchildren, Nicholas Quatantillo (Berkeley Springs, WV), Ellen Hyde and Travis Hyde (Canton, Ga.) and Michelle Hyde and Harry Hyde (Romulus, NY) and six great grandchildren. Predeceased by his brothers Charles and James and his sister Barbara.
