Robert “Bob” Rosenkrans, 68, of Seneca Falls, New York, died, at home surrounded by the love of his wife, daughter and son following an eight-month battle with brain cancer on February 12, 2015.
Bob, the son of the late John and Margaret Rosenkrans was born in Lansing, Michigan on September 29, 1946. At age seven he and his family moved to Seneca Falls. Following his graduation from Mynderse Academy he attended Baldwin Wallace College in Berea, Ohio where he earned degrees in history and finance.
For the last forty years he has worked for and then owned Royce and Rosenkrans Insurance Company. Bob was active in many local and state organizations and committees. Notably, as a current and long-time member of the Seneca County Industrial Development Agency. Bob passionately believed in and worked to support their mission of thoughtfully growing the region’s economy and job opportunities.
Bob’s life long interests included: European and American history, travel, finance and investment, reading; often several books a week, and following many sports teams - with the perpetual hope for his favored Detroit Tigers. There were no greater joys in Bob’s life than his family and farming. He raised Hereford cattle for several decades.
Bob leaves a family who adored and respected his fervent belief in fairness, generous spirit, keen sense of humor and ardent work ethic. He is survived by his wife, Maureen “Reenie” Rosenkrans, daughter Amy (Rosenkrans) and her husband, Robert Dickman of Auburn, New York and son, Jeffrey Robert Rosenkrans of Seneca Falls, New York, step-children; Mark Tompkins, Jr. and his wife, Christine of Seneca Falls, New York, Sandra Tompkins of Victor, New York, Jill Snyder and her husband, Greg of Seneca Falls, New York and grandchildren; Gavin and Dylan Tompkins and Zachary Snyder. Bob’s eldest child, Michael Rosenkrans, predeceased him exactly twenty years to the day.
Honoring Bob’s wishes there will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Seneca Falls. Reverend Sue Hadley will preside. A private interment will be held at a later date at the Rosenkrans family burial ground on his farm overlooking Cayuga Lake.
