Seneca Falls – Robert E. Plate I, 55, of South St., Seneca Falls, NY, passed away on Wednesday (December 27, 2017) at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, NY.
Family and friends may call at the Doran Funeral Home, 4 E. Bayard St., Seneca Falls, on Tuesday (January 2, 2018) from 4 PM to 7 PM. Bob’s Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday (January 3) at 10 AM at St. Patrick’s Church, Seneca Falls, NY, by Reverend James Fennessy, Pastor. Burial will be in Springbrook Cemetery, Seneca Falls. If desired, contributions may be made to James P. Wilmont Cancer Center, 601 Elmwood Ave. #704, Rochester, NY 14642 or to the Patriot Guard Riders of New York, P.O. Box 12445, Rochester, NY 14612.
The Seneca Falls Honor will conduct military honors at the funeral home on Tuesday (January 2) at 7 PM
Bob was born in Rockville Centre, NY on September 28, 1962 the son of the late Adrian & Evelyn Heise Plate. He had resided most of his life in Seneca Falls and had served in the U.S. Air Force. He was employed by Xylem Inc. of Seneca Falls. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, Seneca Falls. He was a member and commander of Kirk-Casey Post #366 American Legion, Seneca Falls, a member of the Waterloo Legion Riders #435 along with being their historian & ride captain. He, also, was a member & ride captain of the Patriot Guard.
He coached & refereed section 5 wrestling along with coaching peewee football. It was Bob and a few others that started the peewee football program in Seneca Falls. In addition, Bob was chairman of the local peewee wrestling program. He, also, was a Union Steward for the local United Steel Workers Union. Bob loved motorcycling, fishing, boating & hunting. He was an avid outdoorsman.

His grandson – Andrew Bishop
His step-granddaughter – Zoey Gummerson

2 brothers – William (Christine) Plate – Seneca Falls, NY
Christopher (Kathy McDermott) Plate – Waterloo, NY
His significant other – Nancy Galusha of Seneca Falls, NY
His father-in-law – Joseph DelPapa – Seneca Falls, NY
Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews
In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his wife, Linda DelPapa Plate who died July 21, 2013
