Seneca Falls – Robert W. Cologgi, of Weedsport-Sennett Rd., Weedsport, NY, formerly of Fayette, NY, died Monday (January 23, 2012) at his residence in Weedsport, NY.
Family and friends may attend Bob’s Memorial Mass on Friday (January 27) at 10 AM at St. Patrick’s Church, Seneca Falls, with Reverend William Darling, Pastor of St. Joseph’s Church, Weedsport, NY, as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Columbkille Cemetery, Seneca Falls. There will be no prior calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Seneca Falls Library, 47 Cayuga St., Seneca Falls, NY 13148 or to Hospice of the Finger Lakes, 1130 Corporate Drive, Auburn, NY 13026.

Bob was born in New York City on July 29, 1922, the son of the late Augustus and Mary Turri Cologgi. He grew up in Seneca Falls and lived for most of his adult life in Fayette, living in Weedsport only for the past five years. He was a 1935 graduate of St. Patrick’s School, a 1939 graduate of Mynderse Academy, and a 1943 graduate of Cornell University where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Bob also was part of the R.O.T.C. program at Cornell in 1942. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was retired from Goulds Pumps of Seneca Falls and had been a member of St. Patrick’s Church, Seneca Falls. He had been active in the Seneca County United Way and was a former member of the Seneca Falls Knights of Columbus, Council #222. He was a member of the 1938 undefeated Mynderse Academy football team. Bob loved to read, travel, cook and do crossword puzzles. His traveling took him to all 50 states. The most important thing to Bob was his family.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Norma Gustafson Cologgi who died March 18, 1987, an older brother, Mel Cologgi and his wife, Martha, and a younger brother, Bill Cologgi, who died in infancy.
