WATERLOO - Shirley Alford, 85, formerly of Seneca Falls, NY, beloved wife and mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great, great-grandmother, passed away unexpectedly Monday November 5,2012 at Geneva General Hospital.
Shirley was born March 22, 1927 in Madison, Wisconsin, the only child of the late Raymond and Anne Hoover Wiedner, and lived in Seneca Falls, Las Vegas, NV and Wanakena, NY prior to returning to Seneca Falls in 2001. She was a 1944 graduate of Mynderse Academy, a homemaker and at one time co-owner of the Pine Cone Restaurant in Wanakena, and resided at the Seneca Nursing Home in Waterloo, NY at the time of her death.
Mrs. Alford is survived by four daughters, Mary (Robert) Millis, Emily (Greg) Guy and Julie Moses, all of Seneca Falls, and Joyce (John) Janowski of Auburn, NY; one son, James Moses, of Phoenix, AZ; five grandchildren, Christine Smalt, Mathew (Carla) Janowski, Rachael (Joseph) DeMarco, Steven (Lindsay) Guy, and Justin Moses; by seven great-grandchildren and two great, great-grandchildren.
Shirley was predeceased by her infant daughter, Carol Beth Moses, in 1961; her husband, Frederick Alford, in 2001; former husband, Willis Moses, in 2003; and by her parents.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Seneca Nursing Home for their care and compassion. There will be no calling hours and services will be private. Donations in Shirley’s memory may be made to the Beverly Animal Shelter, 50 East River Rd., Waterloo, NY 13165, or to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Doran Funeral Home, Seneca Falls, NY.
