Stephen Mark Hilyer II, 30, of Waterloo-Geneva Road, passed away Monday, May 21, 2012 as a result of a hit-and-run accident. Family and friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 24, at the McGuigan & Bero Funeral Home, 45 High St., Geneva.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, May 25, at St. Peters Episcopal Church, 151 Genesee St., Geneva. The Very Rev. James Adams will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Auburn. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a memorial fund being established for Stephen’s children, c/o Janet Hilyer, 20 N. Morrell Ave., Geneva, NY 14456 Stephen was born on March 16, 1982 in Camp Pendleton, Calif., the son of Stephen and Donna Portello Hilyer. Stephen attended Auburn High School and graduated from Thomson High School in Scranton, Pa. in 2002.
He had worked for many years at Mark’s Pizzeria in Auburn and Avicolli’s Pizzeria & Restaurant in Seneca Falls and loved playing soccer as a teenager. Stephen is survived by two daughters, Sharayah Kramburg-Hilyer and Alexandria Hilyer; his parents, Stephen and Donna Hilyer, of Waterloo; a sister, Sabrina Hilyer, of Waterloo ; paternal grandmother, Janet Hilyer, of Geneva; uncles, Gerald (Kathleen) Hilyer, of Theresa, and Thomas (Lynn) Portello, of Mountain View; aunts, Nancy (Christopher) Lauster, of Lyons, and Carol (Ronald) Portello Steele, of Geneva; cousins, Stephen Gerald , Kristina, Sarah, Christopher, Patrick, Matthew and Jennifer.
Stephen was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Jack M. Hilyer ; maternal grandfather, Anthony Portello; maternal grandmother, Eleanor Sproull White.
