Victor John Potondi, age 88, of Columbus, Ohio – formerly of Ashland, Ohio and Seneca Falls, New York, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 5. Born on October 6, 1924 in Gyorszentivan, Hungary. Graduate of Gyor Secondary School and Farleigh Dickinson University – School of Engineering. Victor emigrated to the U.S. in 1957 and began his career with Worthington Pumps Corp., held positions at Gorman Rupp Pumps and retired from Goulds Pumps in 1989. He was a long standing member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
After retiring he served as a consultant in the International Executive Service Corps. He was an avid sportsman and gardener who enjoyed classical music, chess and his computer. Victor will be remembered as a dedicated and caring husband, father, grandfather and a man who had major influences on those he loved.
Preceded in death by his parents Janos Potondi and Maria Palocz Potondi; brothers Gyula, Emre and Ferenc and sister Juliska.
Survived by loving wife of 62 years Rose J. Lengyel Potondi. Survived by loving children: John (Karen) Potondi, Mary (Glenn) Liebert. Grandchildren: Jason (Emily) Liebert, Melissa Liebert, Ashley Liebert and Mallory Potondi. Great- grandson Ian Liebert; numerous nieces and nephews and many special friends.
A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held in June, with a Private family interment to follow.
