Geneva - William Penn Howell, Jr., 83, 17 Route 96, died  Sunday (March 25, 2012) at home with his loving family by his side.

In keeping with the family wishes there will be no calling hours.  A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday (March 31) at Oaklawn Cemetery in Oaks Corners.   Rev. Ellen Donnan, pastor of Junius Presbyterian Church, will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 435 E. Henrietta Rd., Rochester, 14620.

William was born August 5, 1928 in Floyd, VA, the son of William P. and Martha E. Nichols Howell. He was the youngest of 8 children.  William moved to New York in 1945.  He was employed with Silver Floss Sauerkraut Processing Plant in Phelps for several years, later, was employed as a welder for Elderlee Inc. in Oaks Corners, for many years.  He had a great love of the outdoors and spent much of his time fishing, hunting, and camping.  He was happy to tell everyone that he had “been there and done that”.

He is survived by his loving wife, Eleanor Gibbs Rose Howell; sons, William (Karen) Howell of Franklinville, NC and Robert (Bonnie) Howell of Geneva; daughters, Diane Littlefield of Asheboro, NC and Sue Ellen (David) Rey of Geneva; adopted daughters, Melinda Howell and Tanya Howell both of Geneva; step-sons, William (Linda) Rose of Albany and Robert (Barb) Rose of Geneva; step daughter, Elizabeth (Mike Flaherty) Ellis of Geneva;  grandchildren, Desiree Littlefield, Jessica Littlefield, Christopher Scott,Scarlet Gottschalk, John Howell, Joshua Howell, Emily Howell, Patrick Howell, Zachery Rey, Nathaniel Rey, Eleanor Beattie, William Rose, Jr., Amanda Rose, Sharon Griggs, Robert Rose, Jr., Michelle Schaub, Lisa Rose and James Rose; great-granchildren, Giovanni Calo, Arianna Ruiz, Ayla Stankiewicz, Kelby Stankiewicz, Grayson Howell, Liam Howell, Finley Howell, Madison Hartzell, Scott Beattie, Jr., Johnathon Beattie, Tony Griggs, Alexis Griggs, Lauren Rose, Liegha Rose, and Victoria Rose; many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a step-son, Paul Rose.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Coe-Genung Funeral Home in Waterloo.
